Education: Jakob has studied classical and jazz guitar at the McCallum Fine Arts Academy and did more classical guitar work directly with Professor Mark Cruz at the Texas State School Of Music. He is also working towards a Composition degree where he started at Austin Community College and is now continuing at Texas State University.

Teaching Experience: Jakob began teaching as a private music instructor back in February of 2022. He currently runs a beginner violin string program at two elementary schools in the area and teaches locally as well. He is able to teach students of all ages and welcomes anyone who is ready to start their journey! Guitar is his primary instrument, so he can offer more extended techniques for students who are further along already.
Teaching Philosophy: Jakob's goal as a teacher is to help his students find their voice and help them discover the joys and benefits to music! Students will be guided to understand music deeper through traditional exercises, classical and modern works, and be encouraged to explore their instrument and creativity through songwriting and performing.
Get to know Jakob Mitchell
Jakob Mitchell is from Austin Texas but now lives in the San Marcos area as he is pursuing a degree in Composition. He began playing the guitar and practicing songwriting at just 12 years old and hasn't stopped since. His passion for guitar inspired him to teach others. He now is able to offer beginner violin and piano lessons and of course for the guitar as well, but can provide more advance work for acoustic/classical guitar for those already further along. Jakob is ready to help his students discover their own musical ingenuity!
