Teaching Experience: 10 years experience teaching private and group lessons. 5 years teaching in New Hampshire public schools.
Teaching Philosophy: Music is intrinsic, connected to the human spirit and creative mind, and is an essential part of life. I believe that becoming a musician is a commitment to craft. The craft of producing a new skill, character, and substance. The craft of building muscles and habits. My goal as a teacher is to meet students in a place where they can guide their own learning, practice effectively, and enjoy the craft of music.
Get to know Jamie Boccia
Jamie graduated from the University of New Hampshire with his undergraduate degree in Music Education in 2015, then earned his Master of Arts in Teaching from UNH in 2016. While at UNH, he performed with the Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensembles, Jazz Combos, Brass Quintet. He currently teaches at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH teaching band, jazz, and music theory courses. Jamie is also an active professional trumpet player, frequently performing with jazz big bands, symphony orchestras, community bands, as a church service musician, and plays with multiple local soul, funk, rock, and jazz bands.
