Get to know James
James VanDyke is a clarinetist and music teacher from Sterling, Virginia. He recently completed his Master’s in music performance at Ohio University specializing in the clarinet. During his time at Ohio Univeristy, he taught several music majors privately at the University, in addition to teaching a course on clarinet teaching and a course on music theory for non-music majors. He is also an active performer, and has performed numerous times with the Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Valley Wind Ensemble located in Harrisonburg, VA. During his time at Ohio University, he performed several concerts with the Symphony Orchestra, and as the principal clarinet of the Wind Symphony at that school. During his time at JMU, James also performed with the JMU Wind Symphony, Chamber Orchestra, Marching Royal Dukes, and various chamber ensembles.
