Get to know Janelle West
Teaching at Music and Arts is rewarding and fun! I have taught ages 2 1/2-80 and enjoy the challenge to inspire and motivate each student in their own unique way of learning.
I grew up in a minister's home. I'm very thankful my parents started me in piano lessons when I was very young and had the insight and vision of what was to come. My teacher, Mrs. Samson, was strict and taught me classical pieces when I was in elementary school. I began playing for church when I was in HighSchool and then went to Pasadena College where I played for choir and traveled with a trio.
I attended Azusa Pacific College on a scholarship but went back to Pasadena College where my husband and I met. He has a beautiful voice and we have been so fortunate to share our talents doing concerts across the U.S., Alaska, Hawaii and Australia.
After finishing my four years of Music Education I was trained in the Yamaha Music program and taught classes for 12 years. I loved it! However, teaching one-on-one is my passion. I have been teaching for 40 years.
I am currently the pianist at the Bellevue Heights Church in Sun City, Arizona.
