Education: Janet holds a Masters Degree in Special Education and English/Secondary Education. Janet has a minor in Piano Performance from Brigham Young University. She also holds a Music Therapy Certification for Early Childhood and Special Needs Students, K-12.
Performance Experience: Janet has played the piano in various venues throughout Utah and Colorado. She has been a soloist as well as an accompanist of many soloists and individual choirs, including the Colorado Mormon Chorale. Janet enjoys performing in various performance bands on the bass guitar, piano, banjo, and ukulele. She is a member of the Rocky Mountain Ukulele Orchestra.
Teaching Experience: Janet has owned her own music studio for 10 years. She has experience teaching students of all ages, including toddlers, teens, and adults. She teaches 1:1 lessons, and small and large groups of students. She has a self-created music program for kids ages 0-4 years called La La Littles.
Teaching Philosophy: She believes that music is a feeling and that everyone has music to share with themselves and others.
Get to know Janet Pratt
Janet grew up playing the piano and guitar. Janet studied Music at Brigham Young University and the University of Northern Colorado. She worked with kids with special needs in the public schools for 30 years. Currently, she owns her own music studio, teaching guitar, electric bass, ukulele, and banjo lessons to students of all ages. She teaches a weekly music class to children ages 0-4, where they sing, dance, learn music basics, and have a lot of fun! Her focus at Music and Arts is guitar, ukulele, electric bass, and banjo instruction.
