About Jason Bledsoe
Get to know Jason Bledsoe
My musical journey started in elementary school when I heard a professional woodwind quintet playing. After the performance I knew what instrument I wanted to play, but didn’t know it’s name. I approached the gentleman playing the instrument and asked what it’s name was. He replied, “this is a flute…”, I went home that afternoon and told my parents that I wanted to play the flute. We rented an instrument and began private lessons in conjunction with the school band program. While in high school I participated in region band 4 years and all-state band 2 years, placing first chair in Arizona my senior year. I wanted to play so I joined the US Army band and played a lot. Then it was time to go to college. I was awarded a full tuition scholarship and majored in Flute performance and Music Education. I was the principal flute in the University of Arizona Symphony and Wind Symphony. After teaching at my high school alma mater, I decided to re-enter the military for more professional playing experience. I moved to Georgia via Ft. Benning. I have been teaching full time in High Schools and Middle Schools for 25+ years. Eight years of that experience was spent in Bangkok, Thailand at an international school. I really enjoy helping students achieve their goals and answering all their questions.
