About Jay Dressler

Get to know Jay Dressler
I started my music career playing Clarinet with the intention of switching to Saxophone in the 6th grade, after switching to Saxophone in the 7th grade I quickly became interested in all types of wind instruments. From Saxophone I switched to Trumpet, then Baritone and finally landed on French Horn. After I graduated highschool I took a break in my education and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where I was honorably discharged with merit. After my discharge from the military I came back to St. George and started my degree for Bachelors of Music Education at Dixie State University, now named Utah Tech University.
At Utah Tech I am one of the few
French Horn majors on campus, having played Assistant to the Principle Horn,
2nd Horn, and 4th Horn in the Utah Tech Symphony Orchestra, 1st Horn and 2nd
horn in the University Symphony Band, 1st Tenor Sax and 1st Horn in the Jazz
band while also being apart of smaller ensembles such as the brass ensemble,
Chamber Orchestra, and the University Pep Band on a variety of brass
instruments. Along with that I am the Logistics Manager for the brand new
Marching Band.
I believe that any student that
applies themselves to music can achieve great things as long as they have the
drive to do so, and I hope to help find what drives your student so that they
can achieve great things. I am excited to help your student to learn everything
from the very basics of organology for their instrument to the heights of how
music theory applies to what they will do. Questions are always welcome from
students or parents.
