About John Mcandrews

I grew up in the Cleveland area and started playing trumpet in my school band. I earned a Bachelor of Music from Baldwin Wallace University and a teaching certificate from Cleveland State University. I have performed frequently in Northeast Ohio as well as touring with the Mantovani Orchestra in the United States, Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore. I also played with Seaside Music Theater in Daytona Beach. I started teaching about 50 years ago including private instruction and conducting bands, orchestras and chamber groups. I have become a better teacher with age since I have picked up procedures and strategies which have proved effective in encouraging my students to make music.
