About John White
Get to know John White
Growing up in the Chicagoland area, there was always a piano and a guitar in the house. This sparked my interest and led me to my first real teacher, a Jazz Guitarist named Whitey Lochmond. I started school for Theory and Composition and with a minor in Classical Guitar. For my senior recital in college, I wrote an operetta about "Fishing for Squirrels". I've taught in private and public settings for 30 years, at all levels of instruction, and have experience as a Montessori Teacher. During that time, I've played radio, public and private performances, including for Q101 in Chicago and in local productions. In 2004 I bought a fiddle for 50 bucks then then traveled around North America on my bike with that 50 dollar fiddle, traveling over 18,000 miles. Shortly after that, I went ahead and bought a banjo and learned how to play. I enjoy looking for my own sound, building and repairing instruments, make visual art and hanging out with my dog.
