Jorge Maresch
Jorge Maresch
Music Teacher, Expert
Location: Henderson, NV
Speaks: English
Instructs: Cello
Education: San Francisco Conservatory of Music, MM Cello Performance, 2017 San Francisco Conservatory of Music, BM Cello Performance, 2015
Performance Experience: The most recent performance was in February with Parea Flute Trio with Clara Lee- piano, and Tasi Hiner- flute at the New Song Anthem Church. We performed trios written by Farrenc and Mendelssohn, and our next concert will feature Bach, Haydn, and Mel Bonis. In San Francisco, Jorge and his college colleagues founded the Astraeus Quartet as well, with a goal to perform less known works in unconventional spaces such as cotton mills, art deco-themed bars, greenhouses, and more to new audiences.
Teaching Experience: Jorge started his teaching career in San Francisco after taking a strings pedagogy class with Andrew Luchansky at SFCM. He primarily taught at the Amabile School of Music and Syntonique Studios, as well as a group of private students since 2013. Even since high school, he has coached cello sectionals at schools and community orchestras, both in Las Vegas and California. In San Francisco, he went on community outreach to preschool to high schools to promote music learning and engagement.
Teaching Philosphy: I strive to find the right path for each student I am working with regardless of age, by searching for their most natural playing. There will be an exploration of how sound is created with the strings of the cello, and how the body's mechanics play a role in creating beautiful sounds and phrases. Musicianship and theory are accompanying skills that will also be taught alongside the pieces for better music comprehension.
