Education: On the GI Bill studied music at Cabrillo College, California, specializing Jazz Performance with Ray Brown. Studied Music Theory, piano, and was member of the Santa Cruz Symphony Orchestra. In Washington DC, took advanced studies with Chopin specialist Professor Basil Toutorsky of the Toutorskiy Academy of Music. Sudied music theory with Dr. Asher Zlotnick of Peabody Conservatory, Baltimore.
Studied jazz improvisation with Dr. Rollin Wiggins of Charlottesville.
Performance Experience: In marching and concert bands; private lessons with, Roger Hauver on percussion and guitar. Performed on drums with a touring band that was discovered by the Beatles’ company, Apple Records and endorsed by Percy Sledge in opening for Dr. John in New York City. Performed with Ron Crotty, Bassist, with Dave Brubeck Quartet, Earl “Fathat” Hines and Vince Guaraldi. Also performed with Earl Jackson, Saxophonist, with Duke Elligton, Lou Rawls and the band, Earth, Wind and Fire.
