About Joshua Myers

Joshua Myers
Music Teacher, Professional
Location: Broomall, PA
Speaks: English
Instructs: Voice
Education: Muhlenberg College B.A. in Music, Vocal Performance Concentration, Magna Cum Laude
Teaching Philosophy: Odd as it sounds, I do not believe in the myth of talent. I believe that anyone who wants to sing can build that skill. I believe in a positive, happy, supportive studio space, where the student and I collaborate on their singing technique, as opposed to dictating what the student can and cannot do. Singing should feel easy and relaxing, and I aim to build a likewise space.
Get to know Joshua Myers
My name is Joshua Myers, and I graduated from Muhlenberg College in May 2022 with a Bachelor's of Art in Psychology and Music, concentrating in Vocal Performance. I am a classically trained singer as well as a budding composer, and I would be delighted to help you or your child start on their musical journey.
I took up singing around the age of 11, inspired by my father, who sang throughout his early adulthood. Singing in my high school and PMEA District choir was a profoundly cathartic experience, and prompted me to consider pursuing Music in college. Throughout my undergraduate experience, I performed in several ensembles, such as the Muhlenberg College Choir, Muhlenberg College Chamber Choir, Muhlenberg Collegium Musicum, Muhlenberg Rejoice Gospel Choir, Muhlenberg Great American Songbook Project, the Muhlenberg College Opera Workshop, and the Muhlenberg Theatre & Dance Department's 2019 production of Gilbert & Sullivan's Trial by Jury. Throughout this period, I also sang in choirs for my colleague's conducting recitals, worked on several newly composed musical theatre projects, and professionally sang in several local churches, such as the historic Augustus Lutheran Church in Trappe, PA.
Currently, I am affiliated with the Interrupted Silence Vocal Ensemble, a professional group operating in the Lehigh Valley, and I sing with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem, the oldest Bach choir in the U.S.. I also sing at Christ Episcopal Church in Pottstown.
My voice type is best classified as a lyric tenor. I have experience singing in many different styles, primarily musical theatre, opera, and choral singing. Outside of singing, I enjoy cooking, video games, and listening to the music of David Bowie and St. Vincent.
