Get to know JP Reali

J.P. Reali has been playing guitar for over 40 years and teaching for more than 30 years. He began his musical journey in 8th grade when a public-school music teacher suggested his parents give him private guitar lessons. His hard work and dedication to the guitar during high school gained him entrance to the prestigious Berklee College of Music, but he chose to attend The American University in Washington. D.C. where he received a B.S. in Audio Technology and a minor in music. He remained in Washington for the next three decades where he was a fixture on the local music scene as a solo acoustic performer and with various blues/rock bands. He won the Washington D.C. Blues Society’s battle of the bands three times and has been nominated twice for Best Blues Guitarist by the Washington Area Music Association. He has released three self-produced albums of original music and is currently working on a fourth. J.P. has travelled the world as a performer and sound engineer, working with such notable performers as Nils Lofgren, Sugar Ray, Mary Chapin Carpenter and many others.

In 2020, J.P. relocated to Delaware to be closer to family and devote himself to performing and teaching guitar. He is thrilled to join the staff at Music and Arts.
