Teaching Experience: Julie has been giving private lessons throughout her schooling and travel performances. As it benefits the individual student, she uses her Suzuki training to support beginning and advanced players. Julie also has coached students to prepare for auditions for the state and national competitions.
Teaching Philosophy: Julie is a dedicated Suzuki cello teacher who sees the unlimited potential in children and the prospect of what they can accomplish. Suzuki certified books 1-8, she has trained with Sally Gross, Annette Constanzi, Pamela Davenport, and Dr. Beth Cantrell. To further develop her teaching skills, Julie regularly attends Suzuki teacher trainer workshops.

Get to know Julie Sonne

A passionate and accomplished young musician and performer, cellist Julie Sonne has toured world wide and performed as soloist with the Buffalo Suzuki Strings Advanced Performance Ensemble of Buffalo, NY. She held the position of principle cellist with the University of Florida Orchestra for two years. Recent performances include the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, Theatre Cedar Rapids and Revival Theatre Company in Iowa. 

At the age of 3 Julie began her Suzuki cello training. She has since studied with Arie Lipsky, former principle cellist of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Julia Lichten of Purchase Conservatory and Manhattan School of Music, Dr. Steven Thomas at the University of Florida, Alan Harris of Eastman School of Music, and Yehuda Hanani of Mannes School of Music. 

In the spring of 2016 Julie graduated from Purchase College Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance. In May of 2018 she graduated with a Master of Music in Cello Performance from the University of Florida. As a graduate assistant of Dr. Steven Thomas with a focus on chamber music, Julie performed with the University of Florida Graduate Piano Trio, String Quartet and Piano Quintet and was principle cellist and section coach of the University of Florida Orchestra.
