Get to know Julion Beckham
An avid educator and performer, Julion is a Maryland born flautist currently performing as a freelance artist and private educator in Maryland. He has studied flute for 16 years with 13 under private instruction and has been teaching flute and music theory privately for several years. During this time he was also an assistant at several elementary, high schools, and colleges where he has worked with students from elementary to collegiate levels as well as adults and adult amateurs. He studied at Montgomery College briefly before passing an audition for one of the Marine Corps music ensembles. After a brief gap he returned to the University of Maryland where he plans to continue pursuing his M.M with a focus on flute performance. As an orchestral musician Julion has played as a soloist for the MC Orchestra, was invited to play with the Maryland Band Directors Band under Vince Patterson, was associate principal flute of the Landon Symphonette for 2 years, and maintains an active status on several sub lists for orchestras throughout the D.C Maryland Virginia area. As an active member of the flute society of Washington, he has performed in numerous masterclasses most notably for internationally renowned artists Dionne Jackson, Chris Norman, and Nikolai Popov. He regularly participates in membership recitals, and competitions and was briefly a member of the Flutes on the Brink flute choir that regularly performs for FSW.
