Get to know Karen Amorous
Karen Amorous is from Austin Texas and started playing the violin at the age of 4 at the University of Texas string project. Karen is now a senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Music Education at Texas State University studying under the direction of Dr. Lynn Ledbetter. She plays in the Texas State Symphony Orchestra and was a section leader for the Texas State Opera performance of Dido and Aneas. She has performed solo works by Mozart, Haydn, Bach, and Kabalevsky. With the Texas State Symphony Orchestra she has performed works by Shostakovitch, Respighi, Dvorak, and a number of contemporary composers. Most recently, Karen has been the violin section leader for both the Texas State Mariachi ensemble, Lince de Oro, and one of the Texas State Chamber Orchestra ensembles. Karen also spent 3 years teaching beginning violin group classes at the Texas State University string project. She is a member of the Texas State Honors College and is beginning work on her honors thesis studying performance anxiety in young music students.
