Get to know Ken Trammell

Growing up in Leesburg, VA, my house was full of music; my mother sang beautifully as she worked around the house. In elementary school, I discovered I was really good at the recorder and through the encouragement of my music teacher, I worked hard at becoming even better at it. My mother's friend bought us a keyboard and I started to teach myself how to play. Shortly, I learned every song in the music book that the instrument came with and fell in love with the piano. I started on trumpet in middle school and developed a joy of playing as well as teaching from showing my little sister and cousins how to play. I knew I wanted to be a music teacher and share my love of music with others while helping them develop their own. I switched to low brass, playing euphonium in band during high school. I earned 1st chair euphonium in the All-Virginia Symphonic Band. That is the best euphonium player in the state of Virginia! I continued working on euphonium and piano in college and I also played for weddings, receptions, and other events. Music lives in my mind, body, and soul and I love sharing this gift with my students so they too can enjoy the good feelings and creativity this art form provides.
