Location: Wayne, PA
Education: Ken has studied with William Schinstine and Armand Santarelli. In addition, he also attended percussion and jazz programs at the University of Miami from 1971-75 and the percussion and jazz programs at Drummer's Collective in New York, New York in 1977. Ken also practiced between 4-6 hours a day in his prime.
Performance Experience: Ken currently performs and records with a variety of Rock, Jazz, and Irish band in the Philadelphia area. Some of the bands he had performed with include: Side FX, The Nerve, The Junkyard Band, The Donnie Allen Band, Jellyroll, The project Big Band, The Sixth Street Quarternion, Big Band Theory, and Mary Beth & Friends.
Teaching Experience: Ken has been teaching since 1970 in various locations such as; Barkley Music store in Media, Jaworski's Music in Phoenixville, Beam's Music in Frazier, SpringField, Music Troubadour Music in Wayne, and now Music and Arts for the last 6 years.
Teaching Philosophy: Ken emphasizes the importance of the fundamentals, whether it be snare drum, mallet percussion, or drum set. During his lessons he encourages his students to listen to music of all styles. He plays a song of different genre each week and has the students analyze the music and talk about what they hear as apart of the lesson. This helps his students become a more rounded player. Ken always encourages his students to get out perform in any way, whether it be with friends or in a school program.
