About Kevin Merkel

Education: Mr. Merkel graduated with a Degree in Music Education from Northwestern State University in Louisiana. He has a Teaching Certificate for teaching music in all grade levels (K-12) in Texas schools. He is a member of both the Texas Music Educators Association and the National Association for Music Education.

Performance Experience: He has performed professionally in Texas and Louisiana, including with the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, Natchitoches Symphony Orchestra, Centenary Orchestra, and more. He has also performed with rock bands at venues in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington.

Teaching Experience: Mr. Merkel has over 10 years of experience teaching music, including experience as a High School and Jr. High Band Director, Drum Line Instructor, Orchestra Director, Site Leader of a non-profit After School Music Program, and as a Private Lesson Teacher. He is continuing to expand his Lesson Studio, teaching lessons through Music and Arts, as well as independently and in public schools.

Teaching Philosophy: Mr. Merkel believes that everyone is capable of great things, and we all have the ability to learn and improve, no matter how good we are when we start. If you set your mind to something, you can make it happen - especially if you have some help along the way.
