About Kevin Wilcox
Get to know Kevin Wilcox
Kevin Wilcox is and educator and freelance violist native to the East Valley, who has played violin and viola throughout his entire career. He began his musical experience at the age of 9 taking both private lessons and performing in school band and orchestras.
Following high school graduation, Kevin attended Northern Arizona University where he completed his coursework in Music Education-Instrumental Emphasis and Suzuki Pedagogy. Kevin, now in his student teaching semester, is looking forward to a balanced career in both he public and private sectors of music instruction.
A few of Kevin's favorite musical experiences have included performing with his high school chamber orchestra and choir at Carnegie Hall in New York City, touring in southern California with the NAU Symphony Orchestra, and numerous performances with many chamber music ensembles and quartets he has been a part of.
Kevin's main goal is to provide quality instruction for each student to help them reach their own personal goals while instilling a strong sense of musicality, self expression, and grit and determination for students to become their own teachers in the future. He believes that by carefully crafting instruction for each student and diligence in lessons and practice at home, any and all students can become excellent musicians.
Outside of his professional life, Kevin is an amateur composer and orchestral conductor and enjoys spending time outside hiking or camping or trying out new restaurants and local coffee shops with his fiancee, Amber.
