Teaching Philosophy: I adapt my teaching style to the needs of the student, whether it means preparation for conservatory auditions, NYSSMA or just having fun and rocking out! I try to get all my students to set goals and seek out performance opportunities.

Get to know Kieran Mcauliffe

Long Island based composer and guitarist Kieran McAuliffe investigates the interaction between personality and music in a variety of settings ranging from completely notated to free improvisational.  

Kieran has performed and/or had his work showcased at major venues such as Bern Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the Blue Note NYC, the Apollo Theater, and the Stone.  Currently, he is finishing up his operatic debut, There was a child went forth every day, which is a commentary on the poem of the same name by Walt Whitman.  His musical collaborators have included Andy Milne, Billy Martin(of Medeski, Martin and Wood), Ensemble Decipher, and Unheard//of Ensemble.  

He holds a BFA in jazz guitar from The New School and is currently pursuing an MM in composition at SUNY Purchase where he studies with Laura Kaminsky.
