Performance Experience: In college, Kirk performed with Georgia Southern University's Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble for all six years he attended classes. Kirk also took time to perform with the school's orchestra, opera, and scholarship brass quintet. Currently, Kirk plays with the Rock Hill Symphony Orchestra, and spends the offseason playing in the Savannah Bananas Pep Band.
Teaching Experience: Kirk has taught private lessons to a number of students over the years, even helping a few to reach top seats in the local District and Region bands. Additionally, he has taught several marching band camps in the summer, and was chosen to tutor and substitute teach at the university level.
Teaching Philosophy: Kirk's goal is to help his students find the joy in music that he experienced while in school, and to help them achieve their highest potential in music.
Get to know Kirk Sanders
Kirk Sanders has been playing trombone in bands since he was in 4th grade, discovering his passion very early on. When the time came for Kirk to decide what he wanted to do after high school, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that he would pursue a career in music. Kirk earned his Bachelor's of Arts in Music and his Master's of Music in Performance both from Georgia Southern. Besides teaching lessons, Kirk also plays Bass Trombone with the Rock Hill Symphony Orchestra. When he isn't teaching or performing, Kirk enjoys spending time at home with his girlfriend, Kristen, and their two Golden Retrievers, Daphne and Sadie.
