Get to know Kristen Zelenak
Kristen Zelenak is an active soloist, chamber musician, educator, and conductor from New Baltimore, Michigan.
As a saxophonist, Kristen is an active soloist and chamber musician. Her chamber groups have won top prizes at the Coltman Chamber Music Competition and the MTNA National Chamber Music Competition. She has competed as a semi-finalist in other national competitions such as NASA, Fischoff, and MPRIZE.
Ms. Zelenak is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts in saxophone performance at Arizona State University. She received her Master’s in Music Performance from Michigan State University and she received her Bachelors in Music Education at Central Michigan University. Her teachers include Christopher Creviston, Joseph Lulloff, and John Nichol.
Kristen is also currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Wind Conducting and serves as a graduate assistant with the Arizona State University Wind and Athletic Bands. Prior to ASU, she spent two years as the Assistant Band Director at Mance Park Middle School in Huntsville, TX.
