About Kristian Arreola

Hello, my name is Kristian Arreola (Alexis Anaya on TikTok and Youtube), and I specialize in Requinto/12 String Guitar and Acoustic/Electric Bass for regional Mexican style music! I have been playing guitar on and off for about 15 years, and have been playing Requinto guitar for 3 years now.  I also can instruct on rock, indie, metal, pop, and blues. Whatever you may be interested in exploring, I am willing to try and tackle together!

I played trumpet in grade school, where I got my first look into the world of music and theory. I played a lot of rock and electric guitar in my spare time growing up, inspired by Guitar Hero 3, before I took a break from music while my interests shifted more towards sports and video games. I then found my love for music and Guitar again in college after taking a Music Theory course, and getting a 12 string guitar.

Since then, I have been exploring the world of regional Mexican music, including corridos, campirano, norteño, and sirreño music. I have also been uploading videos to TikTok for almost a year (almost to 3000 followers!), focused on making digestible, accessible content for the regional Mexican music scene. I make most of my content in English for those who want to explore the genre but might not speak Spanish well enough to understand the content that exists out there already.

My goal is to help students realize how simple theory can be for guitar, and help them establish the tools necessary to teach themselves and explore their particular interests and passions.
