Teaching Philosphy: The primary role of a teacher is not to merely impart knowledge, but to also impart the skills to acquire knowledge. I achieve this by creating a positive and constructive learning environment, presenting information clearly and concisely, and encouraging passion in my students for further research and inquiry.
Get to know Kyle Etges
Kyle Etges earned his Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado, and his Master's degree in Jazz Studies from Middle Tennessee State University. Kyle has been an active performer and composer in Nashville for two years, playing saxophone with the Music City Big Band, Jonny Gowow, as well as leading his own ensembles. He is also an adjunct professor at Middle Tennessee State University and Nashville State Community College, leading instruction in music appreciation, jazz improvisation, and arranging. He is the managing producer of MTSU's Illinois Jacquet Jazz Festival. He offers lessons with Music & Arts on saxophone, flute, & clarinet.
