Get to know Lane Oakes
A Missouri native, Lane Oakes is a graduate of the University of Missouri - Columbia, holding a K-12 Instrumental Music Education Degree. Lane has played percussion instruments for over a decade, and has a plethora of teaching and performance experience. The bulk of his experience is in the marching percussion realm; Lane has performed with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, Freedom Indoor Percussion, and the University of Missouri's "Marching Mizzou". He also has experience playing drum set and keyboard percussion at the college level, in Mizzou's Concert Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, and Percussion Ensemble. Lane has been teaching private lessons since before graduating college, and in the group setting has taught at ensembles such as Freedom Indoor Percussion, Camdenton High School, Hickman High School, and Rockbridge High School.
Lane strives to be the most dedicated, consistent, and professional percussion teacher in the area. When not teaching, he can be found drumming, running, or reading. He currently resides in St. Louis with his wife.
