Leo Maxey is an accomplished trumpeter hailing from Augusta, GA, with strong roots in the vibrant music scene of Baltimore. His musical journey began under the expert guidance of his father and cousin in Georgia, where he developed a deep passion for the trumpet.
Leo's pursuit of excellence led him to pursue higher education, where he dedicated himself to honing his craft. He spent two formative years studying in both North Carolina and Mississippi, immersing himself in diverse musical traditions and expanding his repertoire.
Eager to serve his country and further broaden his musical horizons, Leo enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the USMC, he had the privilege of experiencing a wide range of musical styles and genres, enriching his artistic sensibilities and fostering a versatile approach to his playing.
Building upon his military experiences, Leo pursued higher education once again, this time at the prestigious JHU Peabody Institute. There, he further refined his skills and knowledge, culminating in the attainment of a well-deserved degree.
Leo's musical prowess and dedication have earned him numerous opportunities to collaborate with esteemed artists and agencies, locally, nationally, and internationally. As a freelance musician and composer, he consistently captivates audiences with his soulful and expressive performances, infusing each note with his distinctive style.
Beyond his musical endeavors, Leo finds solace and fulfillment in Gospel ministry, where he shares his spiritual devotion through his music. He possesses a genuine love for connecting with people, and cherishes the moments spent engaging with others, forging meaningful connections and fostering a sense of community.
