Teaching Experience: 6 years teaching private voice and beginner to intermediate piano, 2 years teaching beginning clarinet. She is currently a fourth year general music teacher in the Prince George's County area.
Teaching Philosophy: A quote that has always spoken to me relative to my Why in why I teach is a quote by Zoltan Kodaly: “It is much more important who is the music teacher in Kisvárda than who is the director of the opera house in Budapest…for a poor director fails once, but a poor teacher keeps on failing for 30 years, killing the love of music in 30 batches of children.” Everything starts with a good teacher who cares about making sure her students succeed and come out of their experience loving music.

      Get to know Lexie Pittman

Lexie Pittman started private voice lessons when she was 15, clarinet in band when she started in the fourth grade, and piano when she began at university. Music was always her favorite subject in school and she participated in every outside of school choral activity she could. She participated in multiple honors choruses and was ranked 1st in both all-state and Senior Honors Choir in 2012 and 2013. Being a huge theater lover, she's also participated in many musicals which has contributed to her love of teaching both classical literature and more contemporary theater literature.

During university, she began teaching private voice and piano lessons and before long began teaching clarinet as well. As a clarinetist, she had performed with her high school's Gamer Symphony Orchestra, which also fostered a love of video game music. In school she arranged several pieces for her orchestra to play including Still Alive from Portal where she was a featured vocal soloist.

In 2018, she graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University and pursued elementary music education, now teaching Pre-K - 5th grade general music.
