About Linda Levine
Get to know Linda Levine
With both parents being musicians, I started playing the piano (by ear) at age 3. After taking lessons for several years, I switched to drums at age 8, and then taught myself to play guitar at age 14. I studied jazz guitar and theory in grades 11 and 12, and then jazz guitar, theory, and arranging, at the Mannes Conservatory Jazz Annex, in New York City, for two years. During my time at Mannes, I also learned to play the bass guitar. Over the years, I also taught myself to play the mandolin, banjo, and ukulele. I put out an album of original folk-rock songs, in 1990, called "People In The Middle". Most of the songs from that album are on Soundcloud.com/lindaguitar . My favorite genres of music are classic rock, blues, bluegrass, traditional Irish music, and Israeli folk music. I currently play in two Rock and Pop cover bands. 1) The Steppin' Stones 2) the Far Out Cats. We perform almost every weekend in pubs/taverns and restaurants in the Tucker/Stone Mountain/Lilburn area. I also regularly play, for fun, at open mics and blues jams. There is NOTHING I enjoy doing more than playing music with other musicians! I've been teaching music since about 1980. I love teaching music, and seeing my students progress from beginners to competent musicians and performers!
