About Lukasz Sokolowski
Get to know Lukasz Sokolowski
I started playing saxophone at 16 years old. I was fascinated by its sound when I first heard Kenny Garret. After that my parents bought me an alto and they sent me to the music school. At that time I didn’t know much about jazz. My first teacher was Lukasz Poprawski who is one of the best alto players in Poland. He taught me that it’s extremely important to have your own voice in music.
After couple years of studying I was lucky enough to start playing with Polish top class musicians. That was an eye opening experience.
Besides playing in jazz groups I also used to play club music with DJs.
My biggest idols are: Kenny Garrett, Michael Brecker, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Brad Mehldau, Herbie Hancock and many more.
