Luke Vacca is a trombonist and music educator currently based in Spring, TX. He is the brass lesson instructor at Music & Arts in The Woodlands. Additionally, Luke is the adjunct trombone professor at Stephen F. Austin State University, and teaches lessons and masterclasses in several districts in the northern Houston area. Luke is also an active performer throughout the state of Texas. He performs with the Texas Brass Ensemble, Groove Knight (an Austin-based cover band) and several other groups as a freelancer. He holds an all-level teaching certificate in music in the state of Texas.
Mr. Vacca received a master’s degree in trombone performance from the University of Texas, where he studied with Dr. Nathaniel Brickens and Paul Deemer. He was a regular member of the university’s top performing ensembles; including the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra, New Music Ensemble and Trombone Choir. In the summer of 2021, he performed with the UT Trombone Choir at the International Trombone Festival in Columbus, GA.
Luke holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Stephen F. Austin, where he studied trombone with Dr. Deb Scott, who he now works with at the university. He held several leadership roles in the school’s top performing ensembles, was a featured soloist with multiple groups, and earned finalist honors in the university’s annual concerto competition.
