Teaching Philosophy: When teaching, though Maia's approach is technical, Maia makes sure to focus each lesson on her student's well-being, taking an organic approach to singing so that each student's needs are met. Although Maia will focus on breath work, acting, music theory, ear training, and posture from an Alexander Technique lense, Maia believes the most important thing is to have fun!

Get to know Maia Gonzalez

Maia Gonzalez is a Classically trained soprano pursuing a BM at Manhattan School of Music. Prior to her college studies, Maia studied in the precollege division of Manhattan School of Music and was a winner in the Schmidt competition. She has also much experience singing in choirs, including her college honors chamber choir. Maia has participated in NYSSMA for both voice and piano for over 5 years and makes sure to prepare her students for each section, especially the sight reading portion. Prior to her vocal studies, Maia studied classical piano which has helped her immensely in her musical career, particularly her vocal studies . Maia has also sung Musical Theater repertoire and strongly believes having a Classical Voice foundation is essential for singing all genres of music.
