About Mary Jo Fabon
Get to know Mary Jo Fabon
My name is Mary Jo but most of my students call me Ms. M or MJ. I started playing the flute in 6th grade and I've been in-love with it ever since. I received my Bachelors degree from the beautiful Mars Hill University in flute performance and my Masters degree from the University of New Mexico (also) in flute performance.
I have been teaching flute for over 6 years and have successfully guided students into making All-County, All-District, and even qualify for All-State Band.
Although most of my teaching experiences were in NC, I also served as the flute instructor at UNM Prep School at the University of New Mexico, a band/flute specialist clinician at Taft Middle School in Albuquerque, and currently serving as the flute instructor for Young Musician Initiative of New Mexico.
Teaching flute has always been a passion of mine for it allows me to give back to my community by sharing the beauty of music and its healing effects in our daily lives.
What I love the most about the flute is its long history and evolution, but also the wide range of sounds that it can produce.
For me, teaching is an art for it can never be perfected but can always be improved in numerous & fun ways for students to comprehend to the best of their abilities!
Outside of music, I love fashion, watching Netflix, cooking, nature walks, and blogging.
