Performance Experience: During her undergraduate studies, Maryssa performed with several ensembles: Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, Pit Orchestra, Jazz Band, and various chamber groups. During her graduate studies, she performed as Principal Flute with the Texas State Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra. She also performed as Principal Flute in the SMART Orchestra of San Marcos Texas. Maryssa has also performed with several different colligate honor bands.
Teaching Experience: Maryssa has been teaching flute lessons for 5 years. Her student’s ability levels have ranged from beginner to advanced, and she has worked with flutists aged 10 – adult. In addition to teaching lessons, Maryssa has experience with coaching chamber groups and group flute instruction.
Teaching Philosophy: Maryssa strives to provide engaging, positive, and individualized flute lessons. She creates a meaningful learning environment for students of all ages and ability levels. She aims to foster high levels of achievement and musicality in each student, by improving and building on fundamentals and expanding knowledge of music history and theory. Her ultimate goal is to cultivate a life-long passion for music in each of her students.

Get to know Maryssa Chartier

Ms. Chartier is a music educator and flutist living in Cedar Park, TX. She is a native of Louisiana, where she graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor's in Music Education in 2020. She studied flute with Mrs. Shanna Drescher and Dr. Brian Dunbar. She was an active member of the Spirit of the Southland marching band, where she served as woodwind section leader and later as an undergraduate assistant. 

Ms. Chartier furthered her education at Texas State University, where she graduated with a Master's in Flute Performance and Pedagogy. She studied under Dr. Adah Toland Jones. During her time at Texas State University, she performed as principal flute with the wind ensemble and symphony orchestra. She also performed in varying chamber groups including flute choir and a woodwind quintet. 

Ms. Chartier is a member of the following organizations: Kappa Kappa Psi, Phi Kappa Lambda National Flute Society, and Austin Flute Society.
