Education: Matthew is currently a student at The University of West Georgia finishing up his degree in Music Education. He has taken courses on percussion methods and fundamentals, music theory, aural skills, and piano studies. Before going to West Georgia, he attended the HBCU Talladega College in Talladega, Alabama with a band scholarship.
Performance Experience: Performance experience includes concerts in the UWG Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Concert Choir, Talladega Tornado Marching Band, and gigs with Tabernacle Baptist Church in Carrollton, Georgia near West Georgia.
Teaching Experience: Matthew has taught at Mundys Mill High School in Clayton County as Associate Drumline Instructor for a season, Temple High School near Carrollton as Front Ensemble Instructor for 2 seasons, Paulding County High School near Douglassville as Front Ensemble instructor for 1 season, percussion Fast Start Camps and LGPE Clinics at Herschel Jones Middle school in Paulding, private drumset lessons and currently a sub Teacher for Paulding County School District.
Teaching Philosophy: Matthew's philosophy regarding music and education is based on providing an inclusive space where all students will have access to challenging musical education and making sure that the content is of high quality and digestible, making it easier to remember. Matthew expresses that using musical skills and techniques, reading, notating, creating, analyzing, and understanding music will be vital in heightening their communication skills with others.

Matthew Ross, an educator in Music Education with an emphasis in Percussion instruments. He spends his time teaching middle school and high school students during marching band season where he instructors a Front Ensemble of various keyboard instruments and drumset. As an advocate for Teacher Education and Music Education he uses drumming as a means of expression and social communication. Matthew aims to provide an accepting and open space for musical creation while challenging musicians at all skill levels at an appropriate pace.
