Get to know Maya Watson
Maya Watson is a soprano from White Plains, NY. She discovered her love of music at a young age starting on the keyboard. This later evolved into a passion for piano and voice. She has performed both nationally and internally in concert halls such as the Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Théâtre de la Coupe d'Or in Rochefort, France. She has performed operatic roles such as Juliet in Benjamin Britten’s The Little Sweep, Sandman in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel and Amour in Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice. She found her love of teaching two years where she started giving lessons
She is currently a junior pursuing a double degree, a BA at Johns Hopkins in International Studies and a BM at Peabody Institute in Vocal Performance, studying under Randall Scarlata. She has been teaching voice and piano lessons for the past two years at 901 Arts, a community arts center in the Better Waverly neighborhood in Baltimore.
