Performance Experience: I've been playing in the band now for 10 years, Jazz band for 2, and orchestra for 3.
Teaching Experience: My first teaching experience was when I was a 2nd year in high school, I went over to the jr. high and tought the 5th grade band. My last year of high school I tought the high school band all year one song each semester. Last semester at Kaskaskia me and a few of the other music education majors went over to the Centralia middle school and tought the 4th, and 5th grade a holiday concert.
Teaching Philosophy: Music is was way for everyone to connect. No matter where you're from or how you are. I believe that everyone should be given the change to experience what music can do. Not only for the person but for the people around you as well. I also believe that you are never to "old" to start one of the best gifts the world has given us.

Get to know Mayson Brandt

Hello, my name is Mayson Brandt. I teach bassoon and trombone here at music and arts. I've been playing the bassoon for 10 years, and trombone for 8.5. I'm a 2nd year at Kaskaskia College majoring in music education and plan the go the SIUE in the fall of 23. I believe that  music is a way for everyone to connect no matter what their backgroud is.
