Performance Experience: Pit orchestra experience with Westerville Community Theater, Imagine Productions, Columbus Children's Theater, and Pickerington Community Theater Westerville Community Band NACHO (Nation Wide Children's Hospital Orchestra) All Saints Episcopal Church Westerville Church of Messiah
Teaching Experience: 8 years of private lesson teaching, 5 years in various classroom settings.
Teaching Philosophy: As an educator, my role is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for students to learn and grow in their music making. Through music, I will engage students in activities that require them to be creative, disciplined, flexible, and work cooperatively with others. My goal is to inspire and educate students to become a well rounded musician. We will not only work on note reading and playing but music history, theory and sometimes composition to achieve this goal.
Get to know Mckenzie Vaughn
McKenzie Vaughn graduated from Westerville North High School in 2010 and went to further her education at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. She graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of the Arts in Music Education. She has taught private brass lessons at Music and Arts for over five years and has been a subtitute teacher in many school districts around central Ohio. McKenzie has played trumpet for 20 years and even took lessons at Music and Arts. She loves to play in pit orchestras, the Westerville Community band , NACHO,and with many churches throughout the state. Anyone will tell you that McKenzie is a vvery bright light, compassionate, empathetic and talented educatorwho has an incredible passion for teaching music.
