About Meaghan Thomson

Get to know Meaghan Thomson
Music is something I truly believe runs through my veins. I play violin, piano, viola, harp, guitar, and percussion and I have been singing since I could walk. I began performing in an orchestral setting on the violin at a very young age with the Florida West Coast Symphony, currently known as the Sarasota Orchestra. I began classical voice training at the age of 7 with the Sarasota Youth Opera and received Broadway vocal coaching and dance instruction with The Players Theatre of Sarasota. I also received instruction in the piano beginning at age 6 and competed in a variety of events growing up. In high school, I was a finalist in the Young Artists Competition in violin performance two years in a row and I earned the honor of being the very first freshman at Rollins College to be awarded the title of Concertmistress. In my young adult years, I performed with the Sarasota Pops Orchestra under the direction of Kenneth Bowermeister, a world-renowned music educator and conductor. In my early 20s, I started a family and shifted my focus into teaching from performing and have been teaching ever since! I am a proud mother and I love watching both my own children and my students, young and old, grow in their musical abilities!
