Get to know Melanie
Melanie Stokes started playing the violin at age 8. She studied with many violin teachers, including Reuben Bennett of Boston, MA, who was a member of the famous Boston Pops orchestra under the baton of Arthur Fiedler.
Melanie has played in many orchestras and quartets in the Northeast, and has performed as a soloist and as part of a duet called “Delightful Duo” for weddings and parties in the Poughkeepsie, NY area. Orchestras include the Mid Hudson Community Orchestra, The Woodstock Chamber Orchestra, Newburgh Symphony Orchestra, SUNY Orange Community Orchestra, the Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra, and the Cortlandt Chamber Orchestra, who’s annual New Year’s Day performances over the past 20 years model the famous Vienna Philharmonic performances of
Andre Rieu. Melanie is currently a member of the Lake Norman Orchestra as a first violinist and a member of the board of directors as Treasurer.
Melanie has taught young children and beginning students of all ages throughout the years, and embraces the opportunity to instill her passion and love of playing. Drawing from her own experiences over the years, there is no greater joy that can be felt than by expressing the beauty classical music.
