Get to know Michael Evans
Michael began his musical instruction on trumpet at age nine at Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Washington, DC. He is a 2002 graduate of DeMatha Catholic High School and continued his education at Old Dominion University, recieving his Bachelor's of Music Degree in 2008. His primary teachers included Mr. Dean Englert and Dr. Mike Hall. His instructors also include MSG (ret.) Scott Cameron of the US Army Field Band, SSgt Hiram Diaz of the "Presidents Own" US Marine Band, and SFC Daniel Ord of "Pershing's Own" US Army Band.
Michael is a member of 380th Army Band at Ft. Eustis, VA, serving as principal euphonium player, trombone player, and enlisted conductor.
Michael is a school band director in the greater DC area. He is also the conductor of the Alexandria Citizen's Band and Bass Trombonist of the Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra.
Michael has been teaching privately since 2013. His students range from beginners to advanced and children to adults. His teaching specialties include audition preparation and solo performance. Many of Michael's students receive superior ratings at Solo and Ensemble and represent their school at All- District Band. Michael has a passion for music and enjoys sharing it with the next generation of musicians.
