      Get to know Michael Mcmillon

Michael was born on September 29th, 1987. Michael, at 7 years old , realized he had a passion for music. In 3rd grade, Michael attended Newton D. Baker School of the Arts, where he learned to play his first instrument, the trumpet and also participated in the super choir. This school helped mold Michael into the creative person he is today; he also learned to dance, sing, and act.
Michael's parents, Willie and Maria McMillon became pastors of Greater Fair Temple when Michael was seven. He saw his older brother Willie McMillon III play drums and Michael desired the same ability. Willie was encouraged by their father to start playing the keyboard, which then allowed Michael to play drums which he played for years until attending Cleveland School of the Arts from 6th to 12th grade. He participated in band concerts, band competitions, and many productions where he played the trumpet, drums, piano and bass guitar. Michael realized there were too many drummers at his school, so he switched his instrument to bass guitar. After school, he also joined the creative writing group program, where he found an interest in writing poetry, which led to some songwriting. Aside from his siblings, Michael came from a musical family where his parents, alongside his grandmother Archie Mae McMillon released an album in 1988 with the Fair Family Singers. Michael took an interest in playing the guitar after learning that his great grandfather Archie Fair taught BB King his first chords on guitar; however, Michael later picked up a bass guitar instead because he thought it seemed easier to play.
Michael is known for his expressive creativity, making people smile and laugh with silly dances and witty songs. Even more so, he's known to be an encourager and a person who believes in celebrating everything - even the small things. He is constantly providing positive and uplifting words to those in need.
Michael also sings with cofounded music group Nu Covenant. With Nu Covenant, he has shared many levels of success with his brothers. Michael has also won individual and group accolades. Some of the achievements include Top 48 on America's Got Talent, a nomination for Musician of the Year, Artist of the Year, 1st place in the Arts Showcase Competition, and 1st place in Cleveland's Got Talent. Michael and Nu Covenant have also been on NBC, Fox 8, Channel 19, Channel 5, WKYC 3, and many other streaming platforms and Radio stations such as 94.5fm, 95.9fm 107.9 FM, 93.1 FM, 89.1 FM, and VoiceItRadio.
Just recently, Michael became a first-time author of his increasingly popular book titled “My Glasses Are Off”. Addressing the perspective on loving yourself and others. He has gotten incredibly positive feedback from everyone who read and continues to read it.
Michael's ultimate goal is to travel the world motivating and reminding people of their purpose, destiny, and ways to fulfill them.
