Get to know Michelle Lucia-Ingle
Michelle Lucia-Ingle has earned degrees from the University of Southern California (BM in Clarinet Performance), and the University of Florida (MM in Music Education, Summa Cum Laude). Her primary teachers include Mitchell Lurie, Yehuda Gilad, Michele Zukovsky and Gabriel Tosé. She has been a private applied clarinet educator for over 25 years, has taught at the elementary school level as well, and currently serves as artist teacher at the International Music Camp and music instructor at Montreat College. As a performer, Mrs. Lucia-Ingle has been a member of the Joyeux Chamber Ensemble (touring the People’s Republic of China), Baltimore Symphonic Band (touring Switzerland), High Desert Symphony (principal clarinetist), Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra (principal clarinetist), and was the founder of the 116 Clarinet Quartet, Appalachian Trio, Trio Giocoso and the Baltimore Symphonic Band Clarinet Quintet. She was a featured guest presenter for Clarinet & Amigos at Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Brazil in 2020 and the Brandon University, Canada Clarinet Festival in 2013, and has performed with the national touring company of the musical Chicago, Michael W. Smith, the University of North Dakota Faculty Contemporary Chamber Ensemble and recorded on First Love label. As a researcher, Mrs. Lucia-Ingle received second prize in the research competition at the International Clarinet Association’s ClarinetFest in Madrid, Spain in July 2015 and was a featured presenter at the Thompson Symposium at Pennsylvania State University in May 2015. In 2017, her article ‘Using Mobile Technology to Facilitate Learning in the Applied Clarinet Studio’ was published in The Clarinet, the journal of the International Clarinet Association. Memberships include the International Clarinet Association, National Association for Music Education, and North Carolina Music Educators Association.
