      Education: Neil studied music with a focus in percussion at Western Carolina University and UNC Ashevllle.
      Performance Experience: Neil has performed in a wide variety of musical genres including rock, metal, hip-hop, classical. He also has worked as a percussionist in various musical theatre settings. He is a freelance player in the western North Carolina region.
      Teaching Experience: Mr. Lackey has 20 years of teaching experience as a music educator in public school settings from beginning 6th graders to high school seniors on both drum set and classical percussion. He also works with marching drum llnes.
      Teaching Philosophy: The moments when an idea "clicks" with a student are the moments that remind me why I am a music educator. Being able to witness musical growth in my students is my incentive to my best at collaborative goal-setting. I will customize my approach to each student using book methods, technical exercises and ear training to learn, retain and improve their musicianship.

      Neil is currently the percussion instructor at A.C.Reynolds High School and has been teaching percussion/drum set for 20 years. He is a freelance drummer in the Asheville area. He hold degrees form both Western Carolina Univeristy and University of North Carolina Asheville.
