About Nijel Thomas

Nijel is a percussionist, vocalist, and synthesist who is working rigorously to establish a professional career as a musical artist, music producer, and songwriter. Having grown up in Laurel, MD, he discovered his love for music creation around the age of 5 when he first heard a friend making a beat on the school lunch table with his palms and knuckles. With a desire to learn how to make beats, not long after this experience Nijel became a percussion player as a member of the Gorman Crossing Elementary School band. Though he did not take private lessons growing up, he saw the benefits private instruction had on his peers. Thankfully, however, he was still able to build a solid foundation in technique, rhythm, melody, understanding music notation, etc. through playing in school bands, orchestras, a percussion ensemble, and singing in choruses, with the help of his instructors.

Nijel's breakthrough into musical artistry came in early 2015, when he became friends with other in his dorm who were producing music and rapping. There was no turning back after this, and seven years later you will now find Nijel studying music at Howard Community College, as well as working on his own music in his home studio.
