About Peter Hughes
Get to know Peter Hughes
Violin teacher Peter Hughes studied violin with Grant Rudnicki and then Sarah Scriven. After graduating from Worcester Academy in 1975, Mr. Hughes studied with Eric Rosenblith at New England Conservatory of Music and Janet Packer at the Longy School of Music. Peter also studied chamber music with several inspiring musicians, including Grant Rudnicki, Robert Merfeld and Eugene Lehner.
Peter currently teaches at Joy of Music Program, maintains a private studio at Music & Arts and assists with the string program at Worcester Academy. He has also taught at Thayer Performing Arts Center and Anna Maria College.
He gained his first teaching experience at Boston Music Company and soon after taught at Pakachoag Music School of Greater Worcester.
In addition to classical music, Peter enjoys jazz and fiddle, and music from around the world.
Peter attended seminars at Longy School of Music, at School for Strings (NYC), and Community MusicWorks (Providence, R.I.), which have had notable impact on his musical direction. Numerous creative citizens continue to contribute to the cultural life of Central Massachusetts. It is a community that Mr. Hughes feels especially thankful to be working in.
