      Get to know Robert Guinea

Roberto (Robert) started learning guitar at Sharpstown High School and quickly learned rock, jazz and classical guitar by attending Houston Christian University formerly HBU. He performed in the HBU jazz ensemble and studied classical guitar with Terry Gaschen. After graduating he performed in various rock bands touring the USA. While teaching privately at a music store (Musicworld) he was hired by HISD to initiate a guitar program at Johnston Middle School (now MPVA). While teaching classes of 25-35 students, he developed the curriculum to include solos, ensembles and multiple yearly performances while incorporating musical technology to compose, arrange and teach large classroom sizes. He retired from HISD in 2020 but the program still thrives today. Roberto continues teaching privately and demonstrates his love for teaching all styles of guitar.
