About Robert Hursey

Get to know Robert Hursey
I have been a teacher for Saxophone and Clarinet Students for 10 years. First for Draisen-Edwards Music Store and then Music & Arts Anderson store.
My musical background: After graduating from Clemson where I was a member of the Clemson Concert Band program, I successfully auditioned for the Anderson Symphony Orchestra on Clarinet and Saxophone. I have been a member of the ASO for 40 years and am still a member.
The ASO formed a Big Band in the late 70’s and I have been active with that organization since its inception. An offshoot of that group was the Electric City Dixieland Band.
I have performed with a few other combos playing a wide variety of music. Folk, Jazz, Standards, Blues, Rock and Roll.
I joined the Anderson New Horizons Band in 2009 ( a Community Band). We perform at Assisted Living Facilities and the Richard Campbell Veteran’s Home and the Patrick Harris Mental Hospital.
In 2009 I formed a Saxophone/Clarinet Quartet and we perform at Churches, Schools and Private Parties. We perform a wide variety of music. Classical, folk, pop, Christmas music.
I am hired for special events such as 4th of July, Easter, and Christmas to perform at several local Churches.
Making Music is my passion. I strive to pass that passion onto my students.
