Performance Experience: Over the past 3 decades of playing, I've had the opportunity to perform all over the world. I've worked as a side man to big acts, performed in my own bands, performed as a soloist on guitar and lute, and worked in pit orchestras for Off-Broadway musicals. I had the opportunity to spend a month following the life path of the Paraguayan guitarist Agustin Barrios Mangore through South America, performing at various universities and other locations along the way.

Teaching Experience: 10 years in Public School Education, 6 years teaching in Higher Ed 19 years private lesson instruction.

Teaching Philosophy: Music is a powerful, transformative force that enriches lives, fosters creativity, and builds community. As a music educator, my philosophy is rooted in the belief that every student has the capacity to engage with and enjoy music, regardless of their background, experience, or skill level. My role as a teacher is to guide, inspire, and empower students to discover their own musical voice and to cultivate a lifelong relationship with music.

Get to know Robert Weintraut

I'm Robert. I moved to the Easter Shore in 2016, and began teaching elementary music in Somerset County. Prior to moving to the Eastern Shore, I taught Guitar and Music History at various colleges, including Rowan University, Lynchburg University, and Gloucester County Community College, among others. I'm a classical guitarist and lutenist. Playing guitar has brought me all over the world; I've been fortunate enough to perform in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. I earned Bachelors degrees in Classical Guitar Performance, Jazz Education, and Jazz Guitar Performance. I also hold masters degrees in Classical Guitar Performance, and in Music Education. I've been teaching private guitar and piano lessons since 2006. I've had many great teachers over the years. Some of the most influential have been Joseph Mayes, and Julian Gray. They have been an inspiration to me, and I strive to be as great a teacher as they. In my free time, I enjoy furniture building and lutherie. I have been building guitars since 2010.
