Education: B.A. Vassar College, graduate classes at Catholic University (Washington, DC), and Butler University. Been a certified pubic school teacher since 2004 and my certificate is current.
Performance Experience: I have performed at Butler University, Vassar College, Indy Winds Flute Choir, St. Lukes Christmas Flute Choir, publlc and private school concerts in Indianapolis for 10 years.
Teaching Experience: Certified K-12 in Vocal Instrumental and general music,- Taught in public schools in Rochester, NY, Indianapolis, IN, Potomac, Md.,, Private schools,, Also gave private lessons during my career on piano and orchestral instruments. Taught students with special needs including students on the spectrum, visually impaired and students with hearing challenges.
Teaching Philosophy: All students can learn music and learn to love music and learn to express themselves in musical terms. I am patient, respectful, and open to students' abilities and interest. All students have different attention spans and I am tuned into their awareness and needs. My students develop the core competencies while learning to love music as their alternate second language.
Get to know Roberta Lovenheim
Been teaching students since I was 14. I have 50 years of teaching in public and private school, and have won awards for my teaching. I have taught diverse student populations and include culturally appropriate music. I have served as a director of more than 20 Boards of Directors . For example, I served for 15 years as a director of the Indianapolis Childrens Choir. I am a graduate of Vassar College and attended graduate school music performance classes at Butler University. I have given many master classes and performances.
